Aquarel – A collection of hair art by Dion La Bella

“The inspiration for my collection was to encompass my skills in styling, showcasing the use of different textures, whilst marrying the collection with modern art inspired water colours. Studying different sub cultural trends, I wanted to create a compilation of looks that best reflected the direction of present day hair fashion with a future fashion forecast. The use of water colours as the subliminal sub context served as the editing technique that unified my collection, hence the collections title ‘Aquarel’, an adaptation of the word meaning Watercolour, in French.

I designed each image to showcase a different skill set and texture. Using a combination of technique, heat styling and natural texture, I created six future hair fashion forecasts that I hope you will enjoy.”Dion La Bella

About Dion La Bella
Born March 22nd 1987, Dion started his hairdressing career in September 2008, in Adelaide, South Australia. Following in the footsteps of his father Steve, he began his career working at the renown salon Blow! It’s A Hair Thing!, his father’s salon. He completed his one-year full-time Certificate III in Hairdressing at Clip Joint Academy, and was re-employed as a fourth year apprentice in October 2009. It was in this year of development and learning that he first began to realise his passion for styling, winning his first ever hair competition at the SA Hair and Beauty Awards in the category Junior Freestyle Finish. On October 21, 2010, Dion became a qualified hairdresser.

Dion has a passion for self-development, self-improvement and education. Over the years, Dion has worked hard, attending over one hundred industry events, classes, seminars, look and learns, expos and business summits. His passion exceeds simply hair skills, but business development, leadership as well as being incredibly dedicated to learning the skills necessary to facilitate learning, education and inspiration to others.

On September 1st, 2013, Dion became a co-owner of ‘Blow! It’s a Hair Thing!’, in a complete restructure of the brand. Alongside his business partners, Steve La Bella and Hung Tran, he formulated a business plan that would see the development and growth of the company, and was inducted into the important role of Human Resource Manager. The restructure of management was so successful, that on May 1st 2015, Blow! It’s A Hair Thing! acquired another expansion salon in the busy up and coming suburb of Firle, just ten minutes north east of their flagship city salon.

Dion has enjoyed success both personally, winning and placing in many hairdressing awards, as well as in business, with his salon.
