Walden by Raphael Abel – A/W 2015 Lookbook

As inspiration and name giver for the collection served the book ‚Walden’ written by H.D.Thoreau.

The story is about simplicity, independence, altruism, truth and trust and poses the question how we actually want to live our life. It is a quite resistance against mass consumption and society and propagates the ideal of slow movement.

The intellectual and emotional atmosphere of the story is visualized in a contemporary mode. Heavy, over-sized outdoor wear with utility elements in loden, bonded wools or shearling provide protection against the rough survival in the wilderness. At the same time the filigree, sensible and fragile mind-set is realized through subtle colour accents or floral prints and patterns.

In cooperation with Belgian photographer Klaartje Lambrechts the vision of Raphael Abel’s work is transferred in a poetic and zeitgeisty picture.

The aspiration for withdrawal and simplicity is essential in our society. ‘Walden’ is a quite appeal to consciousness, self-reflection and to take the time to contemplate and dream.
