PHOTOGRAPHY BOOK, “X” BY CHARLES MORIARTY

A new limited edition photography book, “X”, from Charles Moriarty that captures the last decade of his work photographing men. Available to pre-order now through Kickstarter, publishing November 25th 2020.

The book brings to light a deeply intimate collection of over 100 seen and unseen images following Moriarty’s own personal journey into the gay male gaze.

Photographer Charles Moriarty, who shot the iconic cover for Winehouse’s debut Frank, and released his debut book ‘Before Frank’ in 2017, unveils a very different, unique and personal archive.

These photographs taken in mere fractures of seconds, represent so much of my life, and many of the men that have inhabited it. The subjects are queer, straight, artists, models, friends, family, and loves, depictions of masculinity, the beauty of the male form in many of its diverse presentations.

This litho printed hardcover coffee table book is 204 pages and features an introduction by the artist Moriarty, along with an afterword by author and senior lecturer in film from the University of Liverpool Gary Needham.

“it comes as no surprise that the work of Charles Moriarty collected here acknowledges the enduring power of photography to index our histories and desires through acts of artistic disclosure and acknowledgement”

Gary Needham, Senior lecturer in film at the University of Liverpool
